Summary & Review of Book
(This is from a post by DrGarry but is also a book review) Speaking of pesticides, an interesting (and somewhat scary!) book about the many chemicals and other assorted toxins that assail us on a more or less constant basis is "The Hundred-Year Lie" by Randall Fitzgerald. He focuses on the industrial chemical industry, the pharmaceutical industry, and the processed food industry as the primary sources of these toxins. The opening paragraph from the Introduction reads: "Over the past one hundred years, our species has been engaged in a vast and complicated chemistry experiment. Each and every one of us, along with our children, our parents, and our grandparents, has been a guinea pig in this experiment, which uses our bodies, our health, our wealth, and our goodwill to test the proposition that modern science can improve upon the foods and medicines of nature." I found it worth the read and would recommend it.
