Summary & Review of Book
If you haven't picked up or heard of Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers, I highly recommend it for anyone with the means to do so. This book is a very interesting primer on stress physiology and its effects written by a brilliant scientist/researcher/teacher/writer. The author Robert Sapolsky is a professor of biology and neurobiology at Stanford University. His unique style of writing allows him to use memorable analogies, and humor to present very detailed topics on a level that anyone with even a basic understanding of biology/physiology can glean new knowledge from. I bring this book up because as we all know, overall health status is multi-factorial and it seems every little thing has bearing and consequence with respect to our well being. So if you have any interest in the bearing of chronic physiological stressors and the deleterious effects that come with them, as well as the "how" and "whys" of how they differ from beneficial acute stressors that we depend on for survival, pick this up and let me know what you think.
