We have available a paid mentor/intership program at Park Ridge MultiMed (www.parkridgemd.com). The specialty of practice is the exciting and emerging area of functional/integrative medicine and corresponding nutrition. We currently have two options available.
- 5 day work week with a minimum 6 mo commitment.
- Monday/Wednesday only commitment, which requires a min 8 mo commitment.
Hours vary but usually fall within the times of 9AM and 7PM. Either way, this opportunity would apply to the qualifications for becoming licensed as an LDN in the state of IL if needed (We are open to an existing RD who may be interested in getting mentored within this specialty).
For clarification, this is not an CDR internship and therefore does not go towards qualifications to become an RD. This would be a great experience for someone who is having difficulty finding an available RD internship, yet wants to get going with their career or for someone who knows they want top notch training/experience in this unique specialty regardless of the need for internship hours - therefore a mentoring experience. Likewise, someone may simply needs hours for state licensure, not for becoming an RD.
For the full time option the pay is $100/week for no more than 40 hrs, usually less.
The 2 day option pays $40 per week. While we realize this is basically gas money, the value of the experience is worth far more which one will more than realize in their career.
Perks include some labs and vitamin supplements at cost, and the opportunity to work in a great (relaxed) team atmosphere. The training will cover all aspects of functional nutrition including regular and specialty lab interpretation, functional biochemistry, systems biology, use of nutritional and herbal supplements in science based protocols as adjuncts to a medical regimen. Cases addressed cover a wide variety of medical conditions including CVD, Db, Cancers, GI, Neuro, EDs, Allergies/immune, hormonal/endocrine, toxicities, Children's spectrum disorders and more in an age population that is equally as wide (children through seniors). Training will also include aspects of some or all of the following: organizational skills, billing issues, management, and all other aspects of outpatient counseling. Professionals on the team you'll be working with include 2 RDs, an MD, DC, and nurse. Candidates should be outgoing and be confident of their ability despite their knowledge or lack thereof in this specialty. That said, a strong interest in this specialty is mandatory for an enriching and fulfilling experience. One should possess strong computer and organizational skills, have their own laptop for use (not a Mac) and be willing to learn at a fast pace. Position opens immediately and would require a (non-paid) 2-4 day orientation to start off.
