Ingredients & Amounts
1 large or 2 mwdim onions thinly sliced
2 tbs oil
3/4 lb chopped veal cut in 1 inch cubws.
1/3 cup yellow split pea ( preferably chana dal found in indian stores)
1 tbs organic tomatoe paste
1 8 oz can of cut organic tomatoes
2 tbs lemon jiuce
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp cinnamon
31/2 cups water
Directions
In a Dutch oven
saute the onions until golden ,
add the turmeric
add the veal and split peas saute for another 5 minutes
add the tomatoes, cinnamon, pepper and water
cover and let simmer for 1/2 hour
add salt and lemon jiuce and simmer for another 1/2 hour or until meat and splits are cooked but are not too soft.
Serve with brown or white rice
Alternative: chicken breast instead of veal chops
Sprinkle with potatoe stick or home made french fries and serve with out rice.
