The ANA is Hitting the Streets!

The ANA participated in several local community events to help spread the word about healthy eating and the role of nutrition in maintaining health.  We had a wonderul time telling event-goers about the programs and activites of the ANA and met quite a few old friends as well.

Jeffrey Moss, DDS, CNS, DACBN, presented a two-part program in May for the ANA.  A workshop entitled Learn to Identify High-Quality Supplements was a behind the scenes look at how supplements are manufactured and the very limited amount of oversight and regulation that applies.  Manufacturing practices and voluntary quality procedures are essential to insure the consumer receives a safe product and a product that contains the ingredients in the correct amount.

Toxic Beauty Products

Dr. Samuel S. Epstein, MD, spoke to the American Nutrition Association in March 2010.  Dr. Epstein detailed information from his recent book, Toxic Beauty: How Cosmetics and Personal Care Products Endanger Your Health . . . And What You Can Do about It.

With tremendous passion and energy that belie his 80+ years, Dr. Epstein explained how how many of the hundreds of common ingredients in everyday beauty and personal care items contain substances never subject to any FDA scrutiny for safety.  Some function as endocrine distruptors, many are carcinogens.

Take Gluten Free to the Next Level

Many more people – especially in the United States where we are exposed almost constantly daily to gluten by bagels, bread, cake, cookies, etc. – actually have celiac disease (CD) and/or are rapidly on their way to much more serious chronic diseases such as osteoporosis but are still totally unaware of this contributor to their bad health and symptoms.
